When it comes to your health and glow the liver is key. The liver keeps our vitality high, skin clear, hormones balanced and digestion in check. It works round the clock to help us excrete pesticides from our food, old hormones we no longer need and even stored body fat. Amazing!
We detoxify 24 hours a day, so it makes sense to eating nourishing food that will support this process. This salad recipe combines some of my favourite liver loving ingredients:

// turmeric

Turmeric is a potent antioxidant and a powerful anti-inflammatory. Turmeric root helps to kick start phase-II detoxification in the liver, releasing toxins for excretion.

// cabbage

Cruciferous veggies, such as cabbage, broccoli, kale and brussel sprouts, contain glucosinilates. Glucosinilates protect the liver from damage, helps with the removal of toxins, and detoxify hormones we no longer need.

// lemon

The sour flavour of lemon is a wake up call for the liver. Lemon triggers the release of bile and the activation of the whole digestive system. Great for those who tend to bloat of have sluggish digestion.

 

Detox Salad

What you need

1/4 red cabbage, finely shredded
2 c rocket
1 c alfalfa sprouts
1 bunch coriander, finely sliced
1 bunch parsley, finely sliced
1 grated carrot
1 grated beetroot
1 green apple, thinly sliced
Dressing
1/4 c tahini
2tbs lemon juice
1tbs turmeric
Pinch pepper
1 tsp maple syrup or a pinch of stevia

Method

Add all salad ingredients to a large salad bowl and toss to combine. Combine all dressing ingredients until smooth. Pour over salad just before serving.
